According to Iran Food News, a news outlet specializing in food science and the food industry, Farhad Eskandari, CEO of Vilo Protein Pars, stated that 12 companies are included in the relevant category. These comprise three companies specializing in caviar and fish roe processing, three companies specializing in canned fish production, and six companies that are not active in any of the product categories covered by this group. According to Mr. Eskandari, the classification of these six companies on the red list was therefore foreseeable. He further stated that three caviar-exporting companies have been placed on the red list. Among the three canned fish companies, one has been classified as red and another as yellow. Vilo Protein Pars, however, remains on the green list of companies approved for canned fish exports to Russia. According to the report, a veterinary expert delegation from the Russian Federation conducted inspections of several seafood processing facilities in Iran and subsequently submitted its findings. The Russian delegation raised a number of concerns regarding the laboratory testing procedures of Iran’s Veterinary Organization, as well as the operations and compliance practices of several Iranian seafood processing facilities. The delegation also announced that no new companies could currently be added to the previously registered list of approved establishments and introduced several changes to the existing list of authorized companies. The issues and non-compliances identified and documented at processing facilities, aquaculture sites, laboratories, and veterinary authorities resulted in the rejection of applications from new companies seeking inclusion on the approved list. According to the report, all Iranian companies were deemed ineligible to export various types of fish fillets to Russia. In addition, the companies inspected in connection with shrimp exports were deemed ineligible for export. One canned fish processing facility was placed on the non-approved (red) list, while another was classified as conditionally approved (yellow). The Iranian Aquaculture Producers and Traders Union is expected to pursue the matter promptly and through the appropriate official channels, including the Iranian Veterinary Organization and the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Moscow.
